Cable layout from radio to ear: connector → short straight section → coiled section → straight section → PTT/mic block → straight section → transducer → acoustic tube. The coil absorbs movement from the radio on the belt or vest while the upper cable stays stable at the collar.

A deliberate design feature, confirmed by the original designer: the coiled section extends enough to allow female operatives to lower clothing when using the bathroom without removing the radio from the belt. The earpiece stays in — no need to switch to the radio speaker and broadcast to the room. Stay on comms throughout.
